Powering the Jaguar Emergency Braking system is a windscreen-mounted video camera and an intelligent driving computer. Active at speeds from 3 MPH to 49 MPH, this system constantly scans and analyzes the area in front of the vehicle, looking for any potential hazard. The most common hazards are other vehicles directly in front, but the wide-angle lens allows for side-to-side hazards. From bicyclists to crossing pedestrians, the Jaguar Emergency Braking system will instantly recognize a road hazard and initiate an alert. If the system has alerted the driver and still predicts a collision to be imminent, it will automatically apply the brakes to help prevent it. By combining the audible and visual alerts, along with automatic braking, frontal collisions can be significantly reduced.
